Awesome Fall day spent SUP'ing & Samantha Boyd ocean paddle

Today I had the honor of sharing Stand Up Paddling with Samantha Boyd ( Sam ). Her second time on the SUP and first on the Ocean. Met early on the beach and paddled for a couple hours with Sam, Eric Rhuland, Eric's friend and Jesse. Winds offshore flattening out the surf made it easy to paddle. We experienced lots of sea life; lots of bait, sharks dolphins and skates and rays. .

Then Jesse and I did a 5-6 mile down winder in the afternoon. At one point Jesse and I encountered several pods of dolphins that hung with us for a while. The tide moved in and the tiny little waves began to break. We actually were able to catch the waves made possible by the Stand Ups.. Jesse and I spent 6 hours paddling this spectular fall day. Tonight ''Polynesian paralysis''' will set in..

Eric Rhuland paddles with C4's C-MAC ATB

Eric called me and wanted to demo the C4 ATB Stand Up . We met at PB for a several mile paddle. He was demoing the board from OUTSIDE HILTON HEAD . http://outsidehiltonhead.com/paddleboarding/equipment.html
Wanting to add the board for his quiver ,we both paddled and tried the board. I have demoed the board several times its a good flat water paddler, great for beginners and advanced riders. The deck is recessed for comfortable stance. The rails are thick boxy with a slight tuck under the edge with a sharp edge bottom. Tail is pulled in and the rocker is great for out East coast waves. Its a stable, buoyant, wide nosed board great for all to enjoy. I'll have to try it in the surf..
Designed by Dave Parmenter in cooperation with Charlie MacArthur (C-Mac), part surfboard, part whitewater kayak, part skateboard, the the C4 Waterman C-Mac ATB is the first stand-up surfboard exclusively designed for Training, Cruising; as well as creative and radical hot dogging in the new but growing sport of stand-up whitewater paddling. New ground is broken every day at C4 Waterman. DESIGN NOTES: The 10'6" ATB incorporates the proven design components of the 10-6, with extra tail rocker to help manage the downstream flow of a river.

Length: 10'6"
Width: 29 1/2"
Thickness: 4 5/16"
Weight: 26 lbs.
Rounded Diamond Tail
Fin Array: 2 X 1 (7" center fin + Futures SB1 350 Side Bites)

Waterman Brian Keaulana

Famed Waterman Brian Keaulana discusses his love of Hawaii and what it means to be able to live, work and surf there. Brian is an expert stand up paddler and has followed in his father's footsteps as a lifeguard captain of the Makaha coastline. Scott Hawaii's slippah (sandals) manufacturer pays honor to this master.

Brian's quote: ''..no matter what you do. You need to wash that clutterness in your head away. Jumping in the Ocean diving, surfing, swimming just clean slates everything, wipes the mind free and you re-freshed again....''

I'm sure thats how we all feel when we head for the water. There is a waterman in all of us..

Fun little NE wind swell 2-3 ft

Paddled out early with Jesse and caught some fun little NE wind swell that brewed up the last two days. Was a cool 70'f air temp with 10 - 15 knot wind. Fun little lefts rolling thru. Was larger last night. Chris, Scott , Vincent and Paul joined us in the water. Was a fun little session. I swam out and took some pics and video . The water was warmer than the air so it was nice to float around and shoot.. Here is a little vid from this morning.

Music by 'Smash Mouth' doing a Doors tune 'Peace Frog' ..... Enjoy.
