H-Cane Danielle blows...

With Hurricane Danielle spinning in the middle of the Atlantic sending swells up and down the coast, we here in the Lowcountry of South Carolina are experiencing East North East winds being on the backside of a stalled front off shore. The swells are being jumbled up with the 15-20 knot ENE winds. Total slop and chop on the waves.. local buoy readings show Swell from Danielle but the ENE winds over shadow the wave.
Significant Wave Height 6.2 ft
Swell Height : 3.0 ft
Swell Period : 14.8 sec
Wind Wave Height : 5.6 ft
Wind Wave Period: 5.3 sec
Wave Steepness: VERY_STEEP

Jesse and I looked at several places to paddle but ended up an Palmetto Dunes for a wind blown choppy session. Too much effort for too little reward.. We were able to snag a few waves but it was a workout... Hardest part was trying to position yourself so you can set up for the wave. The strong wind and 3 ft chop moved the board at will...

Busy week with Lessons

Steady week of lessons. Had some great folks being introduced to Stand Up Paddleboarding. All leave enlightened and with smiles on their faces. Makes me feel good that I made an impact with their moments of excitement from their experience standind on water.

Little'' itty bitty'' clean waves.

Paddled out early at sunrise with Giuseppe Picone who on his second day paddle surfing in the ocean did really well. . Waves were sooooooooo' small but easy for learning. He was able to catch some waves on the PSH 10-6'' WAA ..

Nothing to do w/ Paddleboarding , but we're having fun

Here is some diving off of a May River dock, 15feet above the water. 1 & 1/2 in tuck position. Not too bad after 25 plus years. Can't say too much for Troy's first dive... After a few attempts he made the rotation. A fun day on the water..

A New toy, PSH 9-6 WR ... First Surf today...

Today we had a swell from TS Colin when it was way down in the Caribbean. Now were feeling the effects of a 3.6 ft at 11 Sec Swell. Great way to test the new Wide Ripper. It's a totally different board than the 9-6 wide All rounder. More rocker, with nose lift, thinner rails, pulled in tail and thinner foil from nose to tail. Has plenty of float and very stable in the chop. It rides more like a short board and i have to re-learn how to use my legs to drive the board . I used the stock fins today but the next session I have a 7'' TK flex fin and GL 3's . We'll see how that set up will work. I do remember it took a while to figure out the Wide AA. . Love the challenge of getting a new board wired..

New toy for the boy

I ordered a new PSH 9-6 Wide Ripper last week. Should be here later in the week and looking forward to getting on the waves. I've been wanting one for a year or so and always getting other wave SUP's never really being satisfied with their performance in the surf. I was going to get the new Boardworks model but was able to get a deal with the older original 2009 molded epoxy model. .
