Paddling around Broad Creek

Scott Allen and I went for a paddle in Broad Creek. Winds were calm and the sun was shinging making a beautiful day to be outside on Dec. 30th. High tide allowed us to explore the upper areas of the marsh and coastline. Came across a sunken sailboat sitting in the mud. Was a great day to be on top of a board.. ''But isn't anyday on top of a board ,....GREAT...!''

C4 Waterman set the Guinness World Record for the largest stand-up paddle board in the world on August 3, 2011 with SUPZILLA and the support of Goal Zero, Teva, and GoPro. SUPZILLA is a 32ft inflatable stand-up paddle board that was powered by 31 people paddling.

C4 brought out their Supzilla in full force at the Duke's Oceanfest here in Honolulu earlier this year. Here's a video of the C4 Waterman crew as they try to set the record for most stand up paddlers on a wave

Pioneering surf forecaster Sean Collins dies

Sean Collins founded Surfline.com of Huntington Beach, a forecasting service that is widely used by surfers in San Diego Count to Orange County and now'' world wide web '' predicting surf and forecasting around the world. Collins and his Surfline, is regarded by many as the world's best wave forecaster where every wave seeker today, utilizes his forecast models and predictions so we can know when and where the waves will be.

''Gone were the days of waking up early from the last nights sleepless night ,driving down to the beach for a dawn patrol with your buddies in anticipation with bottled up energy, with visions of perfect surf, talking story of past sessions creating surf stoked memories making every surf check a journey just getting to the surf was an adventure.. Some days scoring, some days getting skunked..Now today, we check the phone app or laptop from bed telling us where and when to be at the beach taking away the days of old surf stoke.. Don't get me wrong I too depend on Surfline but I do have great memories of old when there was no surf reports and having to get your ass to the beach to look at waves just to go surfing., remember no cell phones either. I am forever thankful for Sean's forecasting allowing me to share with all of you. All I ask is next time you catch waves, ride one for him , because with out Sean creating Surfline you wouldn't be on it.... '' He allowed us all catch more waves.

Back in the water again..

Was fortunate to get back in the surf after 3 & 1/2 weeks of being with family. Thanks mom for stirring up a few little waves for me to ride and glide on. Was small, mushy and gutless but had to get in the water and cleanse my soul...I felt wobbly and out of sorts, water was chilly but gliding across the wave is therapy... Heading back to Fla to be with Dad and family..

In loving memory of my Mom....

My Mom had passed away today. It was a long 14 months battling lung cancer,a fight she did not win. She died peacefully in the comforts of her own home with her family at her side. A calmness had overtaken her home when God reached down to her and asked to walk along side of him in everlasting life. I had the privilege to have comforted her and be a part of her transition to the next journey. When I look back at the 47 plus years we were together, it will be difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, but looking back in memory will help comfort me tomorrow.

It is not the length of her life, but the depth of her life.

Forever in my heart. Love you Mom..

God's everlasting light shines on my Mom..
