Back on my feet again !!!!!!!!!!!

I was reborn and baptized this morning. ''Back on my feet again.'' Borrowing Jamie's ankle brace gave me the strength and confidence needed to get out and paddle surf. Concentrating on the waves and not my injury. Its been 5 weeks being beached and today was the one of the better days. I was just taking it all in. 3-4 ft clean waves, comfortable weather, all friends in the water., Priceless... Thanks Jamie.

Dispite the forecast stating; S winds at 15-20 knots and small craft advisories, I awoke to calm winds and waist high surf. Couple of surfers out gettin' some. Took a few shots this morning.

The ankle feels good and I'm ready to get in the surf. Borrowed Jamie's ankle brace so just gonna look for a cleaner day to get out there.

Finally went out for a paddle. It was great to get the board under feet. Spending three weeks nursing the sprained ankle as my inner advisor struggling to keep me sane watching surf break , friends catching waves, fighting urge to get out and paddle regardless of being hurt. Today was the Day ! ... a for a mid-day paddle with Jesse in a windless, warm 70*f Carolina fall day.... Not a soul on the water but few birds and otter in the marsh.. Ankle felt good will wear a brace in the surf .. Cleansed the soul after a long three weeks ..

When not on top of the SUP surfing we head out to fish. Jamie and I headed offshore 10 miles to the B-45 wreck to bottom fish for Sheepshead, blackdrum and grouper. Lots of life all over the wreck. baitfish on top , little tunny hitting the bait , seeing huge splashes in the middle of the bait pods. The bottom fish hitting the baits as we caught several species of fish.. The weather was perfect and water like glass. Fishing with Jamie is a learning experience. He knows fishing and shares his passion. Thanks Jamie..

When an illness or injury knocks you on your ass, you should stay down and relax for a while before trying to get back up.

Now, my inner advisor is dying to heal me.

I needed to be reminded of why it is important to look after my health. I need to be inspired from time to time, with fresh perspectives about health. I need to be motivated to regain my health and to overcome the health condition.

Now I'm making my own recovery the first priority in my life !

Was a little bit larger this morning. Scott was out early on his SUP catching a lot of wave. Yes, I was craving to get in but still have to wait.. Rric R, RuRu, BA ,Tim and Kenny paddled out a little later. Here are some pics of the session. Small maybe, but aways fun on the SUP..

Bummed, but still Stoked

Sprained my ankle and stretched my Deltoied ligaments .... Three weeks a go I rolled my foot in the shallows one session,.. no biggie. I continued to paddle surf and feel soreness. Despite the icing , the constant on my feet at work for 8-10-12 hours plus the surfing the Nor' Ida waves this past week caused my ankle to swell and become somewhat weak. The Dr. say's ''stay off it'' and ''Rest.Ice, Compression & Elevation.'' .Now its rest and recup time. Lets hope its just a stretch and not a tear.. (Cant be a ''land lubber'' for too long)

Here is a video of Jamie and Jessica at Singleton Beach this afternoon. Now that I'm unable to surf for a while, I'll be sitting on the beach taking shots and becoming eager to heal and get back in the water.. I was told by a few ; 'I'm no spring chicken'.. Bummed yes, but was great to watch the clean little waves peel down the beach having my friends experiencing the moment.. ENJOY.

Some and None ... Nor' IDA'' Storm

Its amazing how we have a huge Atlantic Nor'easter in the upper mid Atlantic states hammering the shoreline. The winds are strong sending swell towards the coast. Today I looked at the local and regional surf cams. A cam north of us in Charleston shows flat conditions.. We are flat too. then a cam south of us in Jax Fl. only 90 miles as the crow flies shows 3-4 ft and .. well you'll see.

I know its all wind/wave fetch, topography of the coast,wind direction, shallow coastal waters and continental shelf .. Makes one questioning ''WTF''.. Looks like I'm gonna load up the truck and head south .... Thanks to the technology of today with weather ,surf and cam reports we see what we're missing.. However, you kind of loose that anticipation and the stoke one experiences going on a surf expedition not knowing that you'll find till you get there.. You loose that feeling and thrill of adventure called the ''SEARCH''

We has some surf today surging from the easterly fetch from tropical storm IDA in the Gulf of Mexico . Waves and conditions were choppy and waist to stomach high. Jamie, Rufus, Tim , Mark Wrey and I were out on the Stand Ups along with several other surfers scoring waves. Chris Black had this fast left and snapped it on top of the rebounding lip.. There was a lot of chop and bump on the wave face. It was 2-3 ft chop in a 3-4 ft wave.. We all had to work for it today and we were rewarded with some gems.. I snagged a few head high outside nuggets that i was able to carve several turns thru the inside. After a few hours i got out to shoot some video of Jamie. All of Jamie's rides occurred with in a 1/2 hour or so just after high tide.... He had one backside right where he threw the board on the lip and followed the wave as it broke.. Looked impressive in the stormy looking surf.. Looks like crappy, squally rainy conditions forecasted for Tues and cleaning up for Wed..

thru the middle of the week.. Hurcn Ida will move N into the eastern Gulf of Mexico tonight and Mon...before making landfall along the north central Gulf Coast Tue. The remnant low of Ida is forecast to move E Wed and emerge off the NE Florida or se Georgia coast Thu. The pres difference between the low and large high pres to the N could produce dangerous marine conditions Tue through Fri...including gale force winds and high seas. = SURF !

Fun small clean waves this morning. This is why we Stand Up Paddle Surf . Even the knee high waves are fun. Jamie, Jessica , Scott, Tim, Greg ,Danny Weiss and I enjoyed the SUPS session. Danny and Micky Weiss, German visitors attending a wedding here this weekend is a Kite /Sail boarder and SUP rider in Germany owning a Sail shop there.. Just of the Jet , on our beach and in the Atlantic catching waves on my SUP .. Fully stoked. Awesome to meet with him. Here is some video of this morning. Thanks for viewing.. MAHALO....

Finishing work after feeding 3,000 guests this weekend at the car show that was in town ,I was greeted with knee thigh perfect waves in the most colorful sunset and an even amazing full moon rise before it played hide and seek behind some stratus clouds.. Greg Smith was also out taking in the splendor and I took a few shots of him on some little waves. Although it was only an hour session on the Stand Up in natures wonder, my busy week was erased and my soul was cleansed after paddling and sliding down the line on my first wave.

Fun clean little surf . Jesse and I paddled out enjoying the morning.. Every once and a while a good fun wave would roll thru.. May not be big but its always fun. This is why we stand up here. Fills the gap waiting for real surf.. The warmer temps made today a lot better..
